Barbara Adams Connell

Barbara (Nordrum) Adams Connell, age 75, of Eau Claire, WI, died, Saturday, April 23, 2016 in Eau Claire, WI. Barbara was the oldest of five siblings. Barbara was born September 11, 1940 to Bernard “Foozy” and Leona (Miller) Nordrum. Barbara married Thomas Adams November 29, 1958 and together they had six children. Tom passed away July 30, 1983. Barbara married Daniel Connell in 1995 and he passed in 2004. Barbara attended Regis High School and graduated in 1958, earned her BSW from UW Eau Claire and MSW from UW Milwaukee. During her career, she worked for Family Services of Racine, Catholic Charities Riverdale Clinic, and at the Eau Claire Department of Health and Human Services. Barbara also worked as an instructor for social work at MATA and Gateway TC. In her earlier years, from the mid 1970’s to the mid 1980’s, Barbara worked as a bartender at “The Keg” In Eau Claire where she made many, many friends. Barbara loved fishing, reading, facebook and researching genealogy. Barbara is survived by her children, Robert (Roni) Adams, Deborah (John) Starich, David Adams, Daniel (Kathleen) Adams, Patrick (Christine) Adams and William (Chantice) Adams; fourteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas (Judith) Nordrum and Richard (Trisha) Nordrum; one sister-in-law, Laura Olson; family friend, Dale Lambert; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Leona (Miller) Nordrum; her husbands, Thomas Adams and Daniel Connell; brother, William Nordrum; sister, Elizabeth “Betsy” Sotka; and one grandson, Michael. A Memorial Mass will take place on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eau Claire, WI with Father George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Inurnment will follow the service at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
