Bruce J. Getten, 75, of Eau Claire, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Eau Claire Hospital. Bruce was born on October 15, 1942, in St. Paul, MN, to Kenneth and Helen (Hansen) Getten. He graduated from Memorial High School with the Class of 1961, and went on to attend Northland College in Ashland. On July 2, 1966, Bruce married Ruth Fisher at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Eau Claire. In 1967, Bruce was blessed with a son Eric, and also began working at the Eau Claire Fire Department. He served his community for 25 years and retired as a Deputy Chief in 1993. Bruce enjoyed duck hunting, wood-working, furniture making, fishing, and golfing. Bruce is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth; son, Eric (Stacy) Getten; three grandchildren, Hannah, Chloe and Braylon; two sisters, Kathy (Tom) Lindgren and Karen (Richard) Supple; brothers and sisters-in-law, Barbara Bowlin, Sally (Michael) Ayres, Michael Fisher, Karl (Becky) Fisher, Don Johnson, Kathy (George) Hauser and Teresa (Larry) Mooney; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, William and Lucille Fisher; three sisters-in-law, LuAnne Johnson, June (Jim) Palahniuk and Shirley Fisher; two brothers-in-law, Royal Bowlin, Dave Schleusner; special nephew, Tom Fisher.
