Catherine Mayheu Obituary

Catherine (Pattison) Mayheu, age 97, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at The Meadows in Spring Green, WI. Catherine was born in the town of Canton in Buffalo County, Wisconsin, on May 25, 1916, to Francis J. Pattison and Theresa (Prueher) Patttison. The family lived on a farm located between Mondovi and Durand. Catherine, the oldest of eight children, attended schools in Lima and Durand. After graduation from Durand High School, she moved to Eau Claire where she was employed as a stenographer by the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. She also was employed by Sterling Pulp and Paper Company, and later, Samuelson’s Department Store. Catherine was a member of St. Patrick’s and Immaculate Conception Church and was very active in the Catholic Women’s Club as well as a volunteer for the Red Cross, St. Bede’s Priory, her church, and other community projects. She married Hector T. Mayheu on April 14, 1941, and was a member of the Eau Claire community until 2009, when she moved to the Madison area to be closer to her daughter. Catherine will always be fondly remembered by her three children, Stephen Mayheu of Algoma, Susan (Gary) Hamblin of Madison, and John (Jean) Mayheu of Snellville, GA; her seven grandchildren; and four sisters, Patricia Hoffman, Sr. Mary Pattison, O.S.B., Rose Ann Daugherty, and Margaret Hels. In addition she is survived by eight great-grandchildren who will always hear good things about their great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hector; her parents, Francis and Theresa Pattison; her sister, Mary McKinnon; her two brothers, James Pattison and Henry Pattison; and her daughter-in-law, Mary (Stephen) Mayheu. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Friends may call from 10:00 until the time of service.
