Clarence Tio Obituary

Clarence M Tio, 90 of Eau Claire passed away on May 8, 2015 at the Orchard Hills Assisted Living facility where he had resided for the past 4 years. Clarence was born in Spring Valley, Wi.on May 3, 1925 the son of Marcus and Alice (Koehler) Tio. Clarence married Alice (Dusick) Tio on February 16, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Church in Boyd WI. He and Alice were married for 59 years. Clarence worked at Webster’s candy Factory in Eau Claire and retired in 1988 from the Chippewa Valley Technical College where he served for numerous years as the head custodian. Clarence was a dedicated member of St.Olaf’s church where he and Alice served in many aspects. Clarence was a proud member of the St’Olaf’s Mens club and could always be found serving at the Friday Fish fry. Clarence was best known for his famous” grilled brats” which were served at the annual Church picnic. Clarence served as a dedicated Boy Scout Leader for Troop 107 and received numerous awards and recognition for his service. Clarence was a board member for the National Association of Powers Engineers and also served as a board member for Catholic Knights where he was member for 83 years. Clarence enjoyed a lifetime of fishing trips to Canada, deer hunting with family and countless camping trips spent with family and friends. Clarence and Alice enjoyed attending local music festivals, traveling with friends and enjoyed many years as members of the St.Olaf Card Club. Clarence and Alice enjoyed many winters spent in Arizona. Clarence was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his four children, Robert (Dawn) Tio of Arvada Co, Tom (Donna Murr) Tio of Eau Claire, Donna (Mike) Backus of Eleva, and Pete (Linda) Tio of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren, Tony (Dawn) Tio, Shana and Sal Perera, Lisa Golden-Tio, Jacob Tio, Elizabeth Backus, Allison and Autumn Tio; one brother, Edmund Tio and numerous other relatives and friends. Clarence was preceded in death by his wife Alice, son Michael, grandson Christopher Backus , great grandson Garrett Tio; his parents; sister Roselia(John Bennett), brother Charles(Carol) Tio and numerous friends and relatives. Clarence will forever be remembered as the guy who could fix anything and would never hesitate to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He will be greatly missed by all of the people who have had the privilege to know him. Clarence’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at the Orchard Hills Assisted Living Facility as well as the St Croix Hospice Care for all their loving care during his stay. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at St. Olafs Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe St. with Father Felix Tigoy officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 4 to 7p.m. at Lenmark- Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home West Chapel, 1405 N Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday at the church.
