At an early age his family moved to River Falls where he attended grade and high school. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in June of 1948 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. From 1948 to 1983 he was employed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation at Eau Claire. He married Dorothy Tadsen in Minneapolis on September 12, 1946. He was dedicated to his family, and enjoyed all outdoor activities including fishing and hunting in Canada and several western states. He was active in his church, Boy Scouts and a life member of VFW Post 305 and D.A.V. Post 10. He said his life was blessed with a loving wife, three fine children and American Citizenship.
