Betsy Sotka made her final journey on June 8, 2015, surrounded by family at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire. She was born May 15, 1944, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, to Bernard “Foozy” Nordrum and Leona (Miller) Nordrum. She grew up in Eau Claire and lived there her whole life. Betsy graduated from Regis High School. Betsy’s family included Dale Lambert, who was her life partner, best friend and love of her life. They met on the dance floor and have danced their way through 22 years; sister, Barbara Connell of Eau Claire, WI; brothers, William (Laura) Nordrum of Rapid City, SD, Thomas (Judy) Nordrum and Richard (Trisha) Nordrum both of Eau Claire, WI; in-laws, David (MaryAnn) Lambert of Bloomer, WI, Daryl (Jeannett) Lambert of Evensville, WI, Delon (Terri) Lambert of Bloomer, WI, and Darla (Kelly) Marshman of Waunakee, WI; children, Sean Sotka (and family) of Eau Claire, WI, and Troy Sotka (and family) of Hendersonville, TN; and also, Kathleen “Kitty” Jennerman, who was her best friend and “sister”. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Sotka; and a brother, William Nordrum. She retired from Luther Hospital as a billing specialist. Betsy also has more “adopted” children than she can list. Betsy loved country dancing, being outdoors, and working in the yard and garden. She loved the Green Bay Packers, embroidering and craft shows. Betsy and Dale made it a point every year to go to the Cranberry Fest in Warrens, WI. Betsy always said her favorite past time was spending it with Dale, friends and family and skunking Sean and Troy in Cribbage. Betsy found out she had Cancer in the end of April. She fought a good fight even when they told her there was nothing they could do. She passed away June 8th in her home-town, which was one of the two things she wanted most… Cheeto’s was the second. A prayer service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Eau Claire.
