Eugene W. Endl

Eugene “Gene” William Endl passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire, WI. Gene was born on August 15, 1943 to Richard “Dick” Sr. and Mary (Berger) Endl. He was raised on the family farm in the town of Canton, Buffalo County, rural Durand, with his 3 siblings, Mary Jane, Kenneth, and Richard Jr. Gene graduated from Sacred Heart School in Lima in 1961. After high school, Gene joined the U.S. Army where he served in Fulda, Germany. Gene married Nancy Metcalf on September 30, 1967. They relocated to Eau Claire and had 2 children, David and Susan. He worked for the paper mill in Eau Claire, and retired after 40 years in 2007. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, watching television, working on word puzzles, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active member at St. Patrick's church in Eau Claire. Gene is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Endl of Eau Claire, WI; his children, David (Jamie) Endl of Mondovi, WI, and Susan Perkovich of Eau Claire, WI; his 4 grandchildren, Jacqueline (Jacob) Haley of Chippewa Falls, WI, Clinton Endl of Norfolk, VA, Brian Endl of Jacksonville, NC, and Kayla Perkovich of Eau Claire, WI; siblings, Mary Jane Endl and Richard “Rick” Jr. (Janine), both of Durand, WI; as well as many extended family members. Gene is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth; and sister-in-law, Natalie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. December 1, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 322 Fulton Ave, Eau Claire with Father George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Vistitation will take place from 4 p.m to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave, Eau Claire and also from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
