Florence Chandler Obituary

Florence Chandler, age 101, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away peacefully at Camilia Rose Care Center in Coon Rapids, MN, on April 13, 2016. She was born in Eau Claire, WI, on October 8, 1914, the daughter of Sam and Randie (Easterson) Severson. Florence was a Sergeant with the 8th Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed in Great Britain. Following her honorable discharge, Florence worked in the office at Uniroyal. She married William L. Chandler on November 3, 1945, in Decorah, IA. They also owned and operated Chandler’s Melody Inn until their retirement. Florence enjoyed painting, crocheting, and was a member of First Lutheran (now Spirit Lutheran) Church, Women of the Moose, Masonic Amaranth, and a lifetime member of VFW and American Legion. She is survived by her son, Vern (Denise) Chandler, of Coon Rapids, MN; three grandchildren, Dan, Heidi, and Holly; two great-grandchildren, Aria and Caleb; and several nieces and nephews. Florence is preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; one brother, Julian Severson; and three sisters, Edith Stearns, Onie Kelly, and Sadie Flynn. Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue in Eau Claire, with Pastor Amy Odgren officiating. Visitation will start at 4 p.m. prior to the service. Women of the Moose, Chapter 557, will conduct Moose Rites at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016, in Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington, with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post #53. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the American Legion Post #53, 634 Water Street, Eau Claire, WI 54703.
