Francis Edward Nowak, 90, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday March 28, 2017, at Dove Healthcare West with family at his side. Francis “Bud” Nowak was born in Eau Claire on February 12, 1927, the son of Frank and Mary (Corrigan) Nowak. Bud graduated from St. Patrick's High School. He and Leilah Craig married in 1947. Bud served in the in the U. S. Navy. After his service to this country, he became a milk man in Chippewa Falls. Bud was hired at the Gillette Rubber Company where he spent 42 years as an employee. Bud and Lee moved out to the country where they raised six children. We all played football, baseball, basketball, and went swimming and fishing together. Bud enjoyed dancing and traveling. Bud is survived by five children; Frank Nowak, Dennis (Linda) Nowak, Mary (Steve) Daniels, Lynn Kinnard, and Pat Nowak; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; his sister, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Gloria and Mary Lou; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leilah; his son, John; his brothers, Jim, John, Tom, and Hughie; his sister, Mary; sister-in-law, Donna, and brother-in-law, Pete DePetro. Visitation will be held on April 9, 2017, from 1 to 4 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 2 p.m. at Dove Health Care West Community Room on Truax Blvd. The family sends a special thank you to Dove Health Care West Staff and St. Croix Hospice, Lindsay, Roger, and Casey. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for the purchase of a brick in Bud’s name for the Friends of Irvine Park.
