James Ahneman Obituary

James “Jim” E. Ahneman, age 81, of Eau Claire, WI, died Monday, June 6, 2016 at Oakwood Villa, in Altoona, WI. Jim was born April 14, 1935 in Eau Claire, WI to Everett and Leona (Egstad) Ahneman. He was a graduate of Eau Claire Senior High School and immediately after graduation, joined the US Marine Corps, from June of 1954 to April of 1959 and was stationed in Korea and Japan. On December 5, 1959, Jim married Valeria E. Johnson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Jim went to work for Uniroyal Tire as an electrician while continuing his education obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree from U.W. Eau Claire, and then obtained his Masters Degree as a Master of Science-Vocational Education from U.W. Stout, Menomonie. Jim stayed with Uniroyal for many years and then moved on to work for Watson Industries. He then became an Instructor at CVTC heading up the Robotics and Electro-Mechanical program until his retirement. Jim was very much a “family man.” He loved going to their cabin on Cornell Lake and teaching his children, nieces, nephews and anyone who wanted to learn, how to water ski. Jim loved to travel, evidenced by the three trips he and Valeria took to Hawaii. He enjoyed playing cards, especially with his 500 card club. Jim was an active Hamm Radio operator and was a member of Chippewa Valley and Eau Claire Hamm Radio clubs. In the past Jim was in the Ambassador Club and Golf Team for Uniroyal. Jim also loved watching the weather and was a “Storm Spotter.” Jim was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Eau Claire Masonic Lodge #112 F&AM. Jim is survived by his wife of fifty six years, Valeria of Eau Claire; two children, Vicki (David) Sanders of Eau Claire and Craig (Georgette) Ahneman of Wilminton, N.C; five granddaughters, Laurie (Dan) King, Angela (Randy) Miller, Amy Bell, Brittny Harms and Elizabeth Ahneman; four great grandchildren, Collin Miller, Serenity Miller, Caiden Harrison and McKena King; nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and many friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Leona (Egstad) Ahneman; one daughter, Kim (Mike) Bauer; and one sister, Rojean (Harry) Erlien. A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar St. Eau Claire, WI with Pastor Michael Wollman officiating. Visitation will be from Noon until time of the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
