Jason Harrison Rabedeaux, 49, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Jason was born on April 4, 1965, in Aurora, IL. He graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School, in 1983 and the University of California Davis in 1987. He was granted a Master Degree from Washington State University in 1991. Coach “Rab” pursued a career in college and professional coaching and excelled at every level including stints at Washington State, Oklahoma University, Texas El Paso (Head Coach) and Marquette University. The past seven years found him in Asia, most recently as Head Coach of the Saigon Heat in Vietnam. Survivors include his Mother, Norma Rabedeaux; Father, Clayton Rabedeaux (Caryl); and Brothers, Jeffrey and Jackson (Darlene). Also surviving are his former wife, Stephanie; and his children Beau, Cole and Riley. Jason’s children were his inspiration in life. He loved coming back from overseas to see his children and educate them on the cultures, languages and places he had seen as he coached around the world. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 310 Broadway St. in Eau Claire, WI with Pastor Mark Pirazzini officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Eau Claire YMCA in the name of Jason Rabedeaux, where he developed his athletic skills and developed his human qualities of being a respected young man in the community and around the world.
