Michael Nowak Obituary

Michael J. Nowak, age 57, of Albertville area, formerly of Eau Claire, passed away from an 8 month battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. He was courageous until the end. Michael was born on June 27, 1959, in Eau Claire, to Hugh and Mary Lou (Rust) Nowak. He graduated from North High School with the Class of 1978. Michael married Pam Schroeder on August 31, 1985. From this union two sons were born, David and Jason Nowak. Michael was a sharp shooter for the US Marine Corps from 1980 to 1986. Michael had numerous jobs throughout his life. He worked for Esco Inc. for the last 22 years. He enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, fishing, and was a gun enthusiast. He enjoyed taking his sister, Patti, for Harley rides and fishing with his sister, Nancy. He was always “stirring the pot” with his mom. He also enjoyed learning and helping Wayne with electrical work. His nephews will remember their mother’s “Uncle Mike talks” after every one of his visits. It would begin with “We love Uncle Mike, but..” Everybody Mike encountered was left with a smile on their face from his quick-witted nature and off the wall and outside of the box comments. He made many friends throughout his life and always kept his coworkers on their toes. Michael is survived by his sons, Jason and David Nowak; mother, Mary Lou Nowak; sisters, Nancy (Kelwin) Anderson and Patricia (Wayne Schindler) Nowak; best friend, Wayne Schindler; nephews, Nicholas (Jess Cutler) Anderson, Kelsey (Trinia) Anderson, Luke (Kelsey Hackler) Anderson, Andrew Anderson, and Jake Schindler; great nieces and nephew, Taylar, Dylan and Madalyn Anderson; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins; and the family German Shepherd, Lettie. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Hugh J. Nowak; and brother, Steven P. Nowak. The family wishes to thank Zach and Linda from Esco Inc., Luther Cancer Center Nurses, UW Madison Nurses, and St. Croix Hospice, especially Roger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, Eau Claire.
