Norma Engelking Obituary

Norma J. Engelking, 94, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Our House Memory Care, in Eau Claire. Norma was born on January 7, 1923, in Chicago, IL, to Walter and Edith (Sweetman) Pearson. She moved to New Lisbon, WI, with her family at age 11 and graduated from high school there. She met Harry Engelking while working at Camp McCoy. They were married on April 26, 1946, in Chicago, IL. Norma devoted the early years of her married life to raising their four children. She worked part-time at JC Penny in the catalog department, from about 1966 until her retirement in 1985. Norma was an avid Packer fan. She enjoyed trips to Green Bay to see the team during practice season and never missed watching a game. Norma was kind-hearted and generous, had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a twinkle in her eye. She also considered chocolate one of the four food groups. Above all else, she cherished her family and they cherished her. She is survived by her three children, Dianne (Bob) Lium, Kurt (Janet) Engelking, and Karen (Jeff) Anderson; son-in-law, Rick Amundson; eleven grandchildren, Kristine (Van) Jorstad, Lori (Christopher) Miller, John (Carie) Lium, Jennifer (Trevor) Williams, Jeffrey (Shelby) Lium, Lisa (William Mixon) Amundson, Laura (Trevor) Rothstein, Megan (Mark) Dolton, Michelle (Zachary) Wendland, Kyle (Stephanie) Engelking and Sara (Donavan) Fritz; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Hanson and Maria Engelking; and also many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; daughter, Lynn Amundson; and sister, Dorothy Langlois. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2505 11th St. in Eau Claire, with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
