Pauline Hagmann Obituary

Pauline B. Hagmann, 92, of Altoona, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at home. She was born in Eau Claire, WI, on September 30, 1924, to William J. and Elizabeth F. (Prissel) Bauer. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School (now known as Regis High School) in 1942. Pauline was united in marriage with Arthur J. Hagmann on November 23, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eau Claire. They resided in Eau Claire until 1958. At that time, they moved to Altoona where she continued to reside until her death. Pauline enjoyed dancing, hunting and fishing with Art, Bill and family. She particularly enjoyed her fishing trips to Lake Michigan with Art, to Canada with Bill, Carol and the grand and great grandchildren! She also loved other trips she took with them and her siblings. Those memories were precious to her. She also treasured her lunches with the Presto retirees and lifelong friends group, loved being able to stay in touch with their lives. And not to be forgotten, she was a huge fan of the grandchildren in their activities and events. She loved being in the audience or on the sidelines cheering them on!! They and all their friends called her Grandma/Gram! Pauline was employed as a secretary at Gillette’s Rubber Company and Presto Industries until her retirement in 1990. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish in Altoona. Prior to 1958, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Eau Claire. Pauline is survived by her son, William J. (Carol) Hagmann of Altoona; grandson, Christopher J. Hagmann of Appleton; granddaughters, Debra J. (Ryan) Hoover of Birchwood and Barbara A. (Steven) Carey of Prescott; seven great grandchildren, Blake (Shannon Kerrigan) Enders, Brodan Hoover, Sara Hagmann, Jordan Hagmann, Zachary Hagmann, Mackenzie Carey and Gavin Carey; brothers, Jerome “Shorty” (Sharon) Bauer and John (Judy) Bauer; sisters, Margaret (Steve Beaudette) Colbenson and Julie Orr; sister-in-law, Janet Bauer; and brother-in-law, Dennis Anderson. She is also survived by Hagmann sisters-in-law, Mary Claire Hagmann Bernice Kassing, Betty Hagmann and Rose Hagmann; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Hagmann; parents, William J. and Elizabeth F. Bauer; brother, William J. Bauer Jr., sisters, Loretta (Jack) Sullivan, and Mary Anderson; and brother-in-law, John Orr. Also preceding her were her Hagmann in-laws, Lawrence Hagmann, Eleanor and Joseph Feeney, Marie and Howard Steubing, Alfred and Agnes Hagmann, Norbert Hagmann, Harold Kassing, Richard Hagmann, Rev. James Hagmann; and several nephews and nieces. It is with great gratitude that the family thanks Dr. Joanna Setla and her staff, the staff of Cardiovascular Surgery, Mayo Hospice Care, and many other caregivers at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. You have made her last months more comfortable. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1812 Lynn Ave. in Altoona, with Father Derek Sakowski officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to the time of Mass at the church. A private family burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Eau Claire. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Parish in Altoona, Mayo Clinic Home Health & Hospice in Eau Claire or charity of the donor’s choice.
