Peter Guadagno

Pietro “Pete” Guadagno, age 86, of Eau Claire, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at his home under the care of his family and Mayo Clinic Home Health & Hospice. Pietro was born in the mountain village of Pietramelara, Italy in 1930, to the late Pasquale and Concetta Guadagno. When he was 13 years old he was hit by a bomb while hiding from a WWII air raid near his village. His parents could not find him after he was rescued and recovered at a different village. He returned a year later, to the surprise of his family. As a young man, Pietro’s mom sent him to the United States to watch over his sister, Anna, who married an American soldier, Clare Krszjzanick. Pietro moved to Chippewa Falls upon his arrival in the US. He returned to Italy in 1960, where he met and married his beautiful bride, Lina Savina Rossato. They moved to Eau Claire, WI to start their life together. During their 56 years of marriage, Pietro and Lina raised three beautiful children, Marcellina, Antonio and Maria. Pietro and Lina had seven grandchildren, Trevin, Matthew, Christopher, Lindsey, Gianni, Vincent and Fred. Pietro worked as a mason for many years. He did beautiful marble work in many area churches. Pietro loved to sing opera, garden, and was an excellent cook. Pietro was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Lina Savina; children, Marcy (Kent) Carlson, Tony (Cindy) Guadagno, Maria (Brian) Parish; grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher Carlson, Gianni and Vincent Guadagno, Trevin and Lindsey Overby, and Fred Parish. Pietro is also survived by his brother, Mario, in Italy, and many cousins, nieces and nephews in Europe. Pietro was preceded in death by his parents; and 7 brothers and sisters, in Italy and the UK. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Ave, Eau Claire, with Father Don Meuret officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
