Rachel Ann Hagedorn was born on March 14, 1984, and passed away, with her family by her side, early Thursday morning May 24, 2018. During her short 34 years on earth, she touched the lives of many around her with her determination, strength, humor and trademark Hagedorn stubbornness. She loved spending time with her family and was determined, no matter her health, to make it up to the annual fishing trip on Lake of the Woods in Ontario, Canada and catch as many walleyes as she could. Rachel also loved going up to the hunting shack. Rachel was always a key figure in the evening campfires that often became larger than perhaps they should have. Throughout her life, she was a person who thought of others before herself. No matter what was happening in her life, she focused her energies on other’s happiness. When she met her future wife in 2010, she found the person she knew she would spend her life with, who even put up with her quirks of collecting knives, flashlights, any pillow she could find, and of course her infamous “pickys”. Rachel will be missed by many, but the light she brought to people’s lives around her will never be forgotten. Rachel is survived by her wife, Catherine (Sires) Hagedorn; mother and father, Kay (Sawyer) and William Hagedorn; her sister, Elizabeth Hagedorn; grandmother, Shirley Ann Sawyer; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws. She was proceeded in death by her grandfather, Robert Sawyer and grandparents, Don and Lorraine Hagedorn. The visitation will be held at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 1st Ave., Eau Claire, WI, on Thursday, May 31, 2018, from 3 to 7pm, with a short remembrance at 6:30pm.
