Rita Josephine Hendrickson

Rita J. Hendrickson, 90, of Eau Claire, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Heritage Court Memory Care in Eau Claire, WI. Rita was born to Ryall and Josephine (Green) Caldwell on December 3, 1926. She graduated from Eau Claire High School. Rita met the love of her life, Roy “Heine” M. Hendrickson, upon his return from the service, and they were married on October 1, 1949. She was an accomplished cook, entertainer and welcoming hostess at “Rita’s Diner”. Rita enjoyed hunting and fishing. She was a compassionate caregiver and liked spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Rita is survived by her four children, Susan (Stan) Ruff of Eugene, OR, Jeanne Wick of Sartell, MN, Dan Hendrickson of Eau Claire, WI, and John Hendrickson of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Janelle (Vincent) Capozzi of Eau Claire and Audrey Pearson of Chippewa Falls; and her dog, Sammi. She was preceded in death by her husband; and 10 siblings. A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Natalie Leske officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. The family wishes to extend their thankfulness and gratitude to the staff at Heritage Court for the compassionate care given to Rita during her stay.
