Rosie Schultz Obituary

Rosie Schultz, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and great-grandmother, died in Eau Claire on the morning of July 10, 2018 at the age of 91 years and 25 days. She was born on June, 15, 1927 in Solms, Texas, the ninth child of thirteen children born to Harry and Hulda Krause Pantermuehl. When she was quite young, the family moved to nearby New Braunfels, Texas, where she was raised. Rosie loved the Texas climate and was an avid swimmer. Despite a pact made with several of her sisters that they would each never marry a man who couldn’t swim or dance, Rosie did just that. On November 10, 1945, she married Ruslyn Schultz, a soldier in the Army-Air Corps from Buffalo County, Wisconsin. They had met earlier that year while he was on a weekend pass from Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas. Following their wedding, he brought her to Wisconsin and they made their home in Eau Claire. In their 70 years of marriage, they were blessed with 6 children, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Rosie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Everyone was welcome in her home and no one ever left hungry. There were frequent guests and extra children after school as her cooking ability, and especially her baking, became widely known. Rosie loved to read and was a weekly visitor to the library, instilling in her children that same love of learning. She was curious and had a way of making things interesting and fun. She had a lively sense of humor, and an infectious laugh. She told great stories about growing up in a large family during the Depression, and always remembered funny stories or anecdotes to share. She had an uncanny knack for coming up with these at just the right time. She loved music and dancing. She was happiest when she had a baby sitting on her lap. As a devoted wife, she supported her husband’s deer hunting by being part of the butchering crew each year. She was known for her sausage making ability. Along with her husband, she was an avid Packer and Badger fan. She was also an avid fan of anything her grandchildren were involved in. She loved playing board games, card games, and dominos with family and friends. Rosie enjoyed travel, travelling to Cape Cod, San Diego and the Black Hills, among other places. Rosie collected teacups and would often commemorate a trip with a new teacup. After her husband’s retirement in 1984, they spent winter months in New Braunfels, Texas enjoying family there as well as making various day trips in Texas. They also formed many new friendships with “snowbirds” from across the Midwest. While in Eau Claire, Rosie and Ruslyn were frequent visitors to the Senior Center for games of cards and enjoyed making the rounds of various church dinners. On January 8, 2016 her beloved husband and love of her life, passed away. Rosie continued to live her life with humor, grace, and a focus on others while privately grieving deeply. As she grew older she enjoyed watching the birds on the feeder outside her window, and participating in bingo and musical activities. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Alfred, Bruno, Gilbert, LeRoy and Harry Jr “Rock”; five sisters, Althea “Mausie”, Vera, Marie, Emma and Audrey. She is survived by her children, Mike (Dawn) of Janesville, Marc (Barb) of Eau Claire, Fred of Jamul, California, Kathy of Eau Claire, Michele (Ardell) Redetzke of Durand, and Matt (Heidi) of Eau Claire; grandchildren, David (Mary) and Geoff (Jamie) Schultz, Ruslyn (Erin) and Angela Schultz, Joshua (Heather) and Justin (Lindsey) Redetzke and Jacob, Noah and Laura Schultz; sister, Alma of New Albany, Indiana; brother, Wayne of Long Beach, California; two special sisters-in-law, Gloria Schultz of Alma, Wisconsin and Della Pantermuehl of New Braunfels, Texas; a special cousin through marriage, Lorraine Jackelen of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 322 Fulton Street, Eau Claire, with Father Frank Coraddi officiating.
