Truman House Obituary

Truman House, 93, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 13, 2015, at Heritage Court in Eau Claire. Truman was born in Durand, Wisconsin on April 4, 1921, to Harold and Anga (Johnson) House and grew up in Eau Claire, WI. After high school, Truman attended vocational school. In December of 1941, he enlisted in the US Army Air Core, serving for 4 years. While stationed in England he met his beloved wife, Kathleen Fleming at a dance. They were married on April 2, 1945, in Staffordshire, England. Truman and Kath settled in Eau Claire in 1946 and were blessed with 65 wonderful love filled years together. Truman worked for the Eau Claire School district for 40 years. He was the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds for the last 30. Truman was devoted to his family. All of his family felt his unconditional love and support every day of their lives. Fishing, hunting, gardening, and golfing were some of Truman’ s favorite pastimes. Truman and Kathleen enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Truman will be deeply missed by his five sons, David and Hollace (Sorenson) of Williams, MN, Brad and Holly (Hotchkiss) of Eau Claire, Barry of Sparks, NV, Charles and Marlys (Reuver) of Eagle, AK, Andrew and Judy (Barker) of Eau Claire; five daughters, Rhonda (Carl) Holmquist of Black River Falls, Rita (Howard) Campbell of Eau Claire, Mary Edmonds of Eau Claire, Dorothy House (Louie Gunderson) of Eau Claire, Annette (Steve) Gardiner of Eau Claire; seventeen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; brothers James (Harriet), and Michael (Marge) House; sisters, Viola Rowland, Greta (Jack) Meyers and Velda (Lawrence) Lee; sisters-in-law, Mavis, Betty and Elizabeth House and Judy Kranz; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Kathleen, brothers Lamar, Harold Jr., Roger, Gerald, Delton, and Aubert; sisters, Ione Kriese, Twila Phellan, Verda House. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St., in Eau Claire with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in Eau Claire with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 53. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire, with a Public Prayer Vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to Mass on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to St. James the Greater Catholic Grade School, 2502 11th Street, Eau Claire, WI 54703 The family would like to sincerely thank the Heritage Court staff for the wonderful care and compassion given to our father while in their care.
