Vera H. Hanson

Vera H. Hanson, 89, of Elk Mound, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. She was born at her home in Dunn County, on February 24, 1925, the youngest of seven children, to Grover and Mabel (Keagan) Weber. Vera married Norman J. Hanson on October 4, 1947, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. In 1957, Vera and Norman bought a farm in Elk Mound where they have farmed and lived ever since. Vera was an active member of Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church. Vera is survived by her son, Larry (Marilyn) Hanson and daughter, Debra (Terry) Svihovec both of Elk Mound; four grandchildren, Michael (Julia) Hanson, Jeremy (Amber) Svihovec, Kimberly (Peter) Kohls, and Terry Jr. (Cathy) Svihovec all of Elk Mound; seven great-grandchildren, Norman and Vladimir Hanson, Tyler and Darren Svihovec, Hayden and Jonas Kohls, and Brooke Svihovec; sister, Edith Coyer of Menomonie; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Holt, Eleanor Christianson, Mary Hanson; brother-in-law, Arnold Hanson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; parents; Belvia and Henry Weber in infancy; brother, Woodrow Weber; and two sisters, Alice Gilbertson and Dora Brewer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church in rural Elk Mound at 4420 20th St., with Pastor Hal A. Schroetter officiating. Burial will be at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, and one hour prior to the service, Monday, at the church. Vera’s family would like to extend a gracious and sincere thank you to the staff at Milestone Senior Living Memory Care for their personal care and compassion to Vera during her stay, and to Mayo Clinic Health System - 4th Floor Medical-Surgical Department staff and clergy for their care.
