Adam Leibrich Obituary

Adam Leibrich, 43, of Eau Claire, passed away on July 1, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN, following a month long stay in the intensive care unit. Being diabetic since the age of 22, led to vision loss, kidney failure and finally heart disease, all of which took its toll on Adam’s body. Adam was born in Stockton, CA, to John and Jan (Stuzan) Leibrich on January 7, 1975. Adam spent his formative years in Portland, OR, Pomona, CA, and Stockton, CA. He attended Stagg High School, Stockton, for three years. The summer before his senior year of high school, an opportunity to leave big city life in California presented itself. Adam decided to move to rural Wisconsin with his great aunt. He graduated from Chetek High School in 1993. After high school, Adam attended UW-Barron County, then transferred to UW-Eau Claire and later graduated from Chippewa Valley Technical College. Adam worked as a baker at Mancino’s until he completed his education at CVTC. At that time, he hung up his apron and began a nearly 17 year career at Idexx Laboratories in Eau Claire. Adam was proud of his work and his ability to support his family. On April 25, 1998, he married Stacy (Larson). The couple established a life together in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. A few years after they married, they welcomed the addition of their son, Martin.Their daughter, Poppy, completed the family three years later. Adam was an animal lover, especially cats, but a sweet little Corgi pup, named Hazel, wiggled her way into his heart and the two were constant companions. Spending time with his family was a highlight to Adam. Whether it was weekly breakfasts followed by grocery shopping or family game nights, together was his favorite place to be. He loved teaching his children new things and really loved to offer advice, solicited or otherwise. Adam was a natural educator with great calmness and a vast knowledge of trivial things. Self-dubbed “the Deducer,” Adam was an excellent problem solver and trouble shooter. He enjoyed all things food related, from watching culinary programs to cooking with his family. He was an enthusiast of games of all types but playing board games with family and friends was one of his favorite things to do. Adam’s greatest gift was his quiet and constant support of his family and friends. He had a willingness to support any idea that came along, unless he thought it was completely ridiculous. He always put the needs of others above his own and rarely let on about the constant pain he endured. He is survived by his wife, Stacy; children, Martin and Poppy; mother, Jan Leibrich; grandmother, Joyce Mertes; great-aunt, Marilyn Anderson; father-in-law, Roger (Janet) Larson; brother-in-law, Doug (Lisa) Larson; nephew, Tyler Larson; half siblings, Jennifer and Cory; aunts and uncles; many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, John Leibrich; mother-in-law, Judith Larson; grandmother, Dolleynelle Allen Leibrich; and grandfathers, James Struzan and Jack Bennett Leibrich. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Benefit Fund for the Leibrich Family, RCU PO Box 970, Eau Claire WI 54702 or a GoFundMe account previously set up in Adam’s name. A Board Game Night in Adam’s honor will be held on July 18, 2018, from 4-9 p.m. at Eau Claire Games and Arcade, 315 Graham Avenue, Eau Claire. This will be very casual open house event that will give those who knew Adam an opportunity to offer condolences to the family, play board games and be in a place that Adam loved. Food and drink will be available for purchase. For those interested in playing old school video games, armbands will be available at a discounted price.
