Allen C. Erdman

Allen C. Erdman, age 85, of Eau Claire, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Clearwater Care Center, Eau Claire. Allen was born on July 19, 1932, in Eau Claire, to Victor and Carrie (Clark) Erdman. He spent his early childhood living in Chetek and Augusta before settling in Eau Claire. Allen graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1950. He served in the US Air Force between August 1952 and August 1956. Allen worked for Luther Hospital from the mid 1950's to the mid 1960's where he met his wife. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he married Esther Engebretson on December 16, 1961. Allen and his family later moved to Menomonie in the Fall of 1977 and attended several other churches throughout the years. He eventually became a charter member of Oak Ridge Lutheran Brethren Church. When Allen and his family moved back to Eau Claire, he became a member of Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church. Allen worked for Commercial Testing Laboratory in Colfax for 25 years, retiring in June 2010. He was considered a lead route driver and helped organize other route drivers. Allen enjoyed playing dart ball for Grace Lutheran Church. Allen is survived by his son, Philip (Connie) Erdman of Morgan Hill, CA; daughter, Barbara Erdman of Eau Claire; granddaughter, Stefanie (John) Lafaver of Turlock, CA; brother, Kenneth (Bonnie) Erdman of Roscoe, IL; nephews, Darrell Erdman and family of Machesney Park, IL, and James Erdman and family of Roscoe, IL; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; parents; brother-in-law, Ingram Engebretson; and sister-in-law, Laura Engebretson. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church, with Pastor Rod Larson officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire.
