Arlene Breitzman Obituary

Arlene Rose “Peggy” (Fausett) Breitzman, 91, of Eau Claire, died January 23, 2018, following a brief illness. Peggy was born on January 7, 1927, to Carl and Opal Fausett in Winfield, KS. As a youth, she moved with her family to WI where she later met her husband, Robert Breitzman, while they both were attending UW Stout. She and Bob were married on July 26, 1947, at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls, and shared 58 years of marriage. They were charter members of St. James the Greater Catholic Church where Peggy sang in the choir for over thirty years. Peg was an accomplished artist, fine tuning her craft while raising six children and working in furniture sales. Following her passion, she was a diligent promoter of the arts, working with the WI Regional Extension Arts Program and serving on the state board where she held several offices during her eight year tenure. She received the John Stuert Curry Award for those efforts. As a member of the Eau Claire Art League, she exhibited in numerous local and traveling shows, including at the Foster Gallery at UWEC, Madison’s Felly Galleries and the WI Art Center there, and the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. Her paintings are in many U.S. states and several foreign countries. Her love of nature and people is apparent in her works. “Painting has given me so much joy, in the work as well as the many friendships it has brought me through the years.” She is survived by her five children, Rebecca Oatman, Barbara (John) Rewald, Michael Breitzman, Donald Breitzman, and R. Colin Breitzman; son-in-law, Timothy Candell; five grandchildren, Shawn (Shelly) Oatman, Julie (Paul) Klein, Brad (Sarah) Candell, Mathew Candell, and Kate (Chris) Allen; ten great grandchildren, Hannah and Max Oatman, Molly and Mason Klein, Caleb, Grant, Adeline, and Grayson Candell, and Lilybeth and Charlotte Allen. She is also survived by her brother, Dale Fausett, four sisters-in-law, Alberta (Don) Kortness, Rita (Joseph) Cigan, Ann (Kenneth) Dudash, and Patricia Fausett; along with many nephews, nieces, friends, and special friend, Gene Graw. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; daughter, Beth Candell; sister, Lenore (Fausett) Lewer Berg; brother, Robert Fausett; and great grandson, Simon Candell. A remembrance of Peg’s life will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave, Eau Claire, followed by a prayer service. Private entombment will be held at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, in Calvary Cemetery, Eau Claire. To express condolences online, please visit www.lenmarkfh.com.
