Carol Hageness Obituary

Carol J. Hageness, 74, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving children. She was born on June 1, 1944, daughter of Delbert and Audrey (Lynch) Laehn and the oldest of eight children. Carol attended Glimantown High School and graduated with the Class of 1962. She attened UWEC, graduating with a double major in Elementary Education and Special Education. Carol married Darrell Hageness on February 29, 1964 in Eau Claire. They later divorced. Carol had a passion and kind heart for special needs children and upon graduating from UWEC, she taught Special Education for the Osseo-Fairchild School District. In 1984, Carol took a leap of faith and followed her dream of antiquing, and started her business, Sunshine Treasures. During the years of antiquing and traveling the country side doing antique shows, she also greatly enjoyed her part-time job at Antique Cupboard, where she had developed many great life long friendships. Carol was an avid gardener, there wasn’t anything that she couldn’t grow. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, especially her grandchildren. Carol is survived by her children, Travis (Beth) Hageness of Muskego, WI, Renee Eder (Tom Gutsch) of Eau Claire, Wendy (Robert) Nicolet of Eau Claire and Andrea (Mark) Nyseth of Eleva; twelve grandchildren, Brandon (Samantha), Matt, Joshua (Mandy), Katie, Nicole (Blaine), Jared (Brit), Jacob, Jade (David), Chas, Brent, Brandalyn and Coy; fourteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Anita (Ron) Faehn, Dale (Rene) Laehn, Val Laehn (Stevie Myers), Brian Laehn, Tracy (Kate) Laehn, Wade Laehn and Mary Jo Laehn. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. “A Mother’s Love is Never Ending” A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar St. in Eau Claire, with Pastor Josh Tourfar officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
