Debra Ann Pickerign

Debra Ann Pickerign, age 61, of Colfax, WI, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, while at home following her battle with cancer. Debra was born on June 21st, 1956 in Kansas City, KS, daughter of the late Irvin Moore and Barbara Garrison. Debra graduated from Purdy High School in Purdy MO. Debra then went into the Army and spent 10 years serving her country. Following that career, she went into the civil service and retired as a Logistics Branch Chief for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), with the U.S. Department of Commerce. Debra was a warm and caring person who enjoyed baking and cooking, especially for bingo night at the Moose Lodge in Bloomer, WI, where she was a member. She loved to play bingo, plant flowers and her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with all her grandchildren who she commonly referred to as her schitlings. With a kiss and a peck and a hug around the neck, Debra loved all the youngsters to the moon and back. Debra married Larry Pickerign 31 years ago and together they have made many memories, blended a family of five children and have many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Debra is survived by her husband, Larry; two sons, Michael Pickerign (Lisa), of Longwood, FL, Mitchell Pickerign, of Chippewa Falls, WI; three daughters, Sharon Roback (Craig), of Chippewa Falls, WI, Heidi Eastridge (Joe) of Wichita Falls, TX and Shawndell Young, of Colfax, WI; two brothers, Michael Cairus, of Alamogordo, NM and Ray Gene Cairus (Wendy), of Purdy, MO; three sisters, Donna Carlo (Bryan), of Purdy, MO, Wanell Mesa, of Alamogordo, NM and Ellen Sherman, of Monett; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandsons; six great granddaughters as well as a host of extended siblings, Jerry and Marie Ramsey, Sherry and Cal Ramsey Brown, Ila Gail and Robert Brinkley, Patsy Harris, Shelby Harris Larry Moore and Christine and John Wagner along with many family and friends. Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin Moore and Barbara Cairus; her step-father, George Cairus; as well as her sister, Patty Whisenhunt. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2017, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire, WI. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, in Eau Claire, WI.
