Donald Francis Ausman

Donald Francis Ausman passed away peacefully on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Heritage Assisted Living in Eau Claire, WI. He was born on December 14, 1922 to Marie (Stowasser) and Leo Ausman. Donald married Ann (Anderson) on July 8, 1944. They farmed and lived in the Town of Wheaton near Elk Mound until 2008 when they moved to Eau Claire. Donald was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk Mound. He enjoyed bowling, attending farming events and, most of all, hosting family get-togethers on the farm. He enjoyed visiting, exchanging ideas and having fun. He was a good listener and generous in his interactions with everyone whom he met. His smile and twinkling eyes will be missed by all who knew him. Donald is survived by his children, Barbara (Jack) Pladziewicz of Eau Claire and Patricia (Chuck) Lightfoot of Caro, MI; granddaughters, Kathleen (Chris) Rondeau, Lori (Gary) Malmquist and Vicky (Joe) Brown; grandsons, Chris (Malyia) Pladziewicz and Tim (Erin) Lightfoot; brothers, Joe (Norma) Ausman and Tom (Diane) Ausman; sisters-in-law, Lucille Ausman, Shirley Johnson and Bonnie Anderson; brother-in-law, Bill Germann; as well as 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Leo Ausman; step-mother, Annie Ausman; brother, John Ausman, sisters-in-law, Agnes Karlstad, Alice Anderson and Ethel Germann; brothers-in-law, Ernie Anderson, Alton Karlstad, Bob Johnson and Bob Anderson. We are grateful for the kind, loving and capable care provided by caregivers of Heritage Assisted Living in Eau Claire and St Joseph’s Hospice. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Elk Mound or to a charity of your choice in Donald’s name. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 417 W. Menomonie Street in Elk Mound, WI, with Father Joseph Nakwah officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass Monday at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Eau Claire.
