Doris Demars Obituary

Doris Lorraine Demars, 81, of Eau Claire, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, after battling pneumonia and dementia. Doris, or “Dory” as known to many, was born April 13, 1936, to Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Laveau of Rice Lake; her brother Darrold was born soon after. Dory married Bob Kowalski in 1953 and had son, Randy, and daughter, Cindy. They later divorced. In 1967, she met and married her true love, Larry Demars, and had son, Terry. Larry passed in 1973 from lung cancer, leaving her as the world’s best and most loving single mom. Doris was a social butterfly and sold Avon for 37 years, making many friends at her hangouts: Bill’s Hideaway, Bee Hive, Corner Inn and Amber Inn. For the last 10 months of her life she had been a resident of Oakwood Villa in Altoona, adored by staff and residents, who made her feel at home while struggling with forgetting her favorite things in life – her family, grandpuppies, the Packers, Elvis, and the casino. Doris was preceded in death by her son, Randy; husband, Larry; parents; daughter, Cindy; step-daughter, Bonnie; her “baby brother” Darrold; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She will be missed dearly by her son, Terry; daughter-in-law, Michelle; sister-in-law, Jewel Laveau of Laurel, MD; grandson, Jim (Sena) Castonia; great-granddaughter, Melissa (Drake) Javener; great-great-grandson, Riley James; lifelong friend, Marilyn Falkenthal of Rice Lake, who was more of a sister; various cousins and “adopted family” Vitalis, Laetitia, Laevita and Victor Ezekwem of Rochester, MN; and her Oakwood Villa family. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave, Eau Claire, with Pastor Dean Simpson officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Cemetery, also known as Dobie Cemetery, in Rice Lake, WI. To express online condolences, please visit www.lenmarkfh.com
