Duane Suckow, 77, of Eau Claire, passed away from cancer in the early morning of Saturday, October 13, 2018. He was born on February 27, 1941 in Menomonie, WI, a son of Merlyn “Hoop” and Maybelle (Mittlestadt) Suckow. A graduate of Colfax High School, Duane attended Eau Claire Vocational School and served in the 32nd Division U.S. Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era. Having a career as an accountant and business manager, Duane worked at Benedicts Refrigeration, Irwin Co., Automotive Machine Works, Don Miller Standard, and Adams Automotive Center in the Eau Claire area. Duane married Patricia Laatch on August 19, 1961 at Colfax Lutheran Church. Duane survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Jeffery (Cindy) Suckow; daughter, Mary Jo (John) Griffin; grandchildren, Seth, Samuel and Emma Jo Suckow, and Claire and Cale Griffin; sister, Donetta (Stanley) Knudson; brother, Jon (Eve) Suckow; sister-in-law, Geraldine (Vernon) Kressin; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Denny “Buck” Suckow. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018, with a service at 5 p.m. at the VFW Post 305, 1300 Starr Ave. in Eau Claire with Pastor Julie Brenden officiating. A private inurnment will be at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Beaver Brook Township near Spooner, WI. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving his family.
