Frank Csongedi Obituary

Frank Joseph Csongedi passed away at 75 years young surrounded by family holding his hand on 10-22-2018 at Mayo ICU. Frank was born Christmas Day in 1942 in Stuart, Florida. He would become the best gift to family and friend’s lives; and life now isn’t going to be the same. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Frank E. and Dorthea E. (Wolf) Csongedi. Most of Frank’s life, his family ran Basswood Resort in New Auburn, WI from Spring to Fall for almost 80 years. He always said he had the best of both worlds living on the lake in the summers, by the ocean in the winters and fishing on both waters. He attended schools in both Wisconsin and Florida while his northern classmates looked forward to Frank’s return each spring with fresh oranges for everyone. Frank was in Cub Scouts as a boy and loved resort life so much he wrote a book about his life at Basswood Resort. Frank would often re-live resort life by watching his favorite movie Dirty Dancing. He graduated from Martin County High School, however New Auburn School honored him in their class of 1960 reunions. Frank was the youngest to hold not only one but several offices for (The United States Junior Chamber) The Jaycees in Stuart Fl. In 1968, he was in a movie as well as a few friends called “Little Laura and Big John”. He worked on Burt Reynolds limousines in Stuart, FL and was a first mate on his father’s boats. He was married to Linda (Buchholz) for 47 years and had one child Kathy. While at CVTC in Eau Claire, WI he earned two Associate degrees. Frank was a member of a HO Model Railroad Club, he collected 1:18 scale antique cars and trucks, he loved woodworking and made wooden toys. He loved watching the Green Bay Packers play and was a big movie buff. For the last five years he was an advocate for the residents at Clearwater Nursing Home of Eau Claire, WI. He loved to play bingo and cards, and taught them a game they’ll keep going even now. Frank helped set up a grocery cart to earn funds for activities, he was the go-to guy. If anyone needed advice or a hug, they counted on Frank. Frank is survived by his daughter Kathy Quinters, six grandchildren: Gabrielle Quinters, Mark Quinters, Bailey Quinters, Matthew Csongedi, Gillianne Csongedi, and Magdoline Csongedi, one great-granddaughter Alice Quinters and one great-grandchild on the way. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Mayo ICU for their tireless care of Frank and the kindness they showed to his family. There will be a Celebration of Life with Pastor David Irgens on November 17, 2018 at 1pm at the American Legion Post 53 - 634 Water St, Eau Claire, WI. Story telling will take place after services.
