Katherine Mattison Obituary

Katherine E. “Kate” Mattison, age 95, of Eau Claire, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Grace Edgewood Assisted Living with her family by her side. Kate was born on July 2, 1922, to George and Edith Prynch. She also grew up with her step-father, Carl Austin. She worked as a bartender at Idlewild Tavern in Seymour for over 50 years. She enjoyed fishing at Lake Hallie, crotcheting, and gardening. She cooked goodies for everybody. Her specialty was homemade soup, lefsa, homemade baked bread, and the best hot dish in town. She is survived by her son, Daile (Sheri) Mattison of Eau Claire; daughter, Diana (Einar) Jorstad of Elk Mound; grandchildren, Allan Jorstad, Connie (Steve) Hollingsworth, Michelle (Mark) Brown, Melonie (Todd) Lee; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Cole Hollingsworth, Evan Jorstad, Jessica (Matt) Siegert, Josh Proulx; great-great grandson, Ty’cen Siegert; brother, Roger (Carol) Austin; and sister, Phyllis Barbie; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members. Kate is preceded in death by her brother, Harley (Pearl) Prynch. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 1st Ave, Eau Claire, with Pastor Hal Schroetter officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Lutheran Church Cemetery, Eau Claire. Kate lived at Grace Edgewood Assisted Living for several years. She liked it but didn’t; the people there were wonderful to her. They took very good care of her and were very respectful of her.
