Lorraine T. “Bootsie” Horel, 89, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 22, 2017. She was born in Eau Claire on February 13, 1928, a daughter of Joseph and Leona (Lassek) Horel. She attended both grade school and high school in Eau Claire. Bootsie loved working at the bakery downtown on the “main drag”. She also worked for Presto Industries and Hubbard Scientific (now Spectrum Industries), retiring in 1993. Bootsie enjoyed fishing at the cabin in Chetek, camping with friends, and traveling all over the country in her pickup camper. After retirement, she spent time visiting with family, “bumming around”, and took time to care for many friends and relatives. Bootsie is survived by nieces and nephews, Tracy (Joel) Klatt, Tammy (Eli) Ford, William (Sheila) Horel, Sue (Wayne) Seichter and Cindy (Eugene) Enger; great-nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Denise) Enger, Lisa (Aaron) Boyer, Sara (Aaron) Marineau, Amanda Biesecker, Tyler (Tessa) Horel, Ally (Jeremy) Smith, Faith and Hope Ford, and Adelynn Klatt; several great-great-nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Charles Richter of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William (Margie) Horel and Joseph Jr. (Rosemary) Horel; sister, Josephine Richter; great-nephew, Justin Biesecker; and great-great-niece, Madeline Martineau. The family would like to thank the care givers and staff from Safe at Home Care, for all of their help in keeping Bootsie’s wish of remaining in her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 322 Fulton Street in Eau Claire, with Fr. George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Avenue in Eau Claire, with a Prayer Vigil at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass, Monday at the church. Burial will take place in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Eau Claire. To express online condolences, please visit obituaries at www.lenmarkfh.com
