Marjorie Margaret Guettinger

Marjorie Margaret Guettinger, 89, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2017, at Dove Healthcare – West, with her family’s love and support at her side. Marge was born on May 21, 1928, in Cream, WI, the daughter of Albert and Elfa (Fink) Dittrich. She attended Cochrane schools and began working at Watkins in Winona, MN. She married her sweetheart, Warren “Pete” Guettinger on June 17, 1950, at St. John’s Church in Winona, MN. They moved to LaCrosse, WI, for one year where their first son, Jeff, was born. After moving to Eau Claire, their second son, John, was born. Marge supported her husband and their family with her profound love. She taught her children and grandchildren the many ways of life and helped instill her values in them. Marge had a special relationship with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was known to sneak them treats (chocolate of course) and tell them “don’t tell your mother I gave you these”. During her life, she volunteered at many organizations including St. James School and Church, Luther Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital, and Dove Healthcare. She also served as a den mother for a local Boy Scout Troop. She loved to have fun, told great jokes and in general “kept things going” with her humor and wit. She treasured her time with friends and family and made the most of her life. We will miss her greatly. Marge is survived by her sons, Jeff and daughter-in-law Cheryl and John and daughter-in-law Kimberly; grandchildren, Ariane (Keith) Wyman, Chelsea (Eric) Walker, and McKenna Guettinger; greatgrandchildren, Miles, Emanuela, and Warren; many nieces, including her special niece, Jean Loretz. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Ralph Guettinger. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Adeline; brothers, Lonnie and Bill; sister-in-law, Irma Guettinger and her husband, Pete. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th Street, Eau Claire, with Father Dan Thelen officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. James Elementary School, 2502 11th Street, Eau Claire, WI, 54703. Our family extends our sincere thanks to all the caregivers and staff at the Dove Healthcare – West who cared for Mom and Dad during their stay. Your love and compassion is appreciated.
