Odin Johnson Obituary

Odin “Dean” Daniel Johnson, age 74, passed away on December 28, 2017, at the Syverson Lutheran Home. He was born on July 24, 1943, in Eau Claire, to Joseph and Marie (Pitts) Johnson, the first boy after six girls! He was followed by two more sisters and one brother. He always had a special smile when someone would mention how lucky he was to have so many sisters, and he had a very special bond with his brother, Rick. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a dog handler. He was employed by Uniroyal for many years until his retirement. Dean was a staunch democrat and an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks and the Wisconsin Badgers. He rarely missed a game. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he had a special love for animals, especially dogs. He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Johnson of Anaheim, CA; two sons, Odin Johnson and Timothy Johnson; granddaughter, Cora Johnson; grandson, Ivan Johnson, all of Eau Claire; five sisters, Joycelle Smith of Sussex, Marcelle Hanson, Joanne Sorenson (Paul), Judy Burns (Mark Roswold) and Linda DesForge (Steve), all of Eau Claire; and also many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Florence Weichert, Shirley Millwood, Yvonne Bradford and Richard Johnson. Many thanks to Dr. Philip Jacoby, Grace Edgewood Assisted Living, Syverson Lutheran Home, Sacred Heart Hospital, and especially his guardian, Sheng Xiong, for taking such good care of Odin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 322 Fulton St. Eau Claire, with Father George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Eau Claire.
