Orvin Larson Obituary

Orvin Ellsworth Larson, 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. He was born on November 15, 1929, to Albert and Gladys (Wood) Larson of Black River Falls, WI. He grew up on the family farm and loved being a mechanic. There was nothing he couldn’t fix on a car or truck. Orvin joined the U.S. Army in 1951, and while home on leave, he met and married the love of his life, Lillian P. Thompson, on July 26, 1952, at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church in Eleva, WI. Orvin worked for Janesville Auto Transport in the early 1950’s and later moved to Eau Claire. They moved to Eau Claire, where he was a milk man for Oak Park Dairy until he retained a position at Uniroyal. In 1991, he retired from Uniroyal after 25 years. He loved his retirement and spent many happy moments with his wife until her death in 2002. Orvin loved playing the “Harmonica” and could play any tune of “Old Time Music”. Orvin is survived by his four children, Charlene, Russell (Kathy), Jeffery (Susan), and Michael (Karen); grandchildren, Jeremy, Vanessa, Levi, Amanda, Brandon, Brittany, Jennifer, Devon, Cody, Breanna, Kayla, Dana and Justin; many great-grandchildren; and sister, Marvel (Clarence) Rassmussen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; parents; brothers, Clifford and Allen; and a sister, Shirley Farrington. The family wishes to thank the staff at Syverson Lutheran Home for their heartfelt care provided to Orvin during his stay. Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church, Town of Drammen near Eleva, WI, with Pastor JonPaul Dragseth officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held in Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery in the Town of Drammen, with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post 53.
