Peter "Pete" Aumann, 52, of Eau Claire, WI, peacefully passed away from complications of Crohn’s disease on Winter Solstice, Thursday, December 21, 2017, surrounded by loving family. Pete was born on July 6, 1965, to Gene and Connie (Dingmann) Aumann in Eau Claire, WI, the youngest of their four children. He graduated Valedictorian from Regis High School in 1984 and earned degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of St. Thomas. He was a computer consultant for companies such as Andersen Consulting, Born Information Systems, Bluestem, and Seagate in the Twin Cities. Pete married Teri Schweiss, DVM, in 1996; they later divorced. After the family moved to Rapid City, SD, Pete obtained his realtor’s license and worked with The Realty Group. He explored his passion for creative writing with the Black Hills Writers’ Group. Most recently, Pete achieved great satisfaction working one-on-one with students as an independent advanced math tutor. He was a dedicated board member of The Wellness Shack, a mental health support resource. Pete was an intensely loyal Packer fan and loved fantasy football as well as chess and all types of board games. He delighted in being the family riddle-master. He was an avid movie buff and embraced as his life motto “Get busy living” from The Shawshank Redemption. He was passionate about creating memories with his kids, the three greatest joys of his life. Pete is survived by his children, Noah (18), Colton (15), and Rowena (12), of Houston, TX; mother, Connie Aumann of Eau Claire, WI; siblings, Christopher Aumann of Thousand Oaks, CA, Monica (Tom) Moriarty of Lake Elmo, MN, and Anita (Chris) Sperry of Plymouth, MN; dear aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many lifetime friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Walter and Margaret Aumann, Ruth and Sylvester Dingmann; father, Gene Aumann; and infant sister, Angela. The family extends special thanks to all medical staff and close personal friends who visited and supported Pete during his last two months at the Mayo hospitals in Eau Claire and Rochester. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1812 Lynn Ave. in Altoona, WI, with Father Derek Sakowski officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the Mass Friday at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire.
