Richard Wold Obituary

Richard M. "Rick" Wold, 60, of Eau Claire, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Mayo Hospital- Methodist Campus, Rochester, MN, with his wife by his side. Rick was born on November 13, 1957, to Melvin "Mannie" and Thelma (Larson) Wold. Rick grew up on Eau Claire's east side hill, just a couple of blocks from the big TV tower on Hastings Way! A 1976 graduate of Memorial High School, he simultaneously attended UW-Eau Claire and held a full time production job at WEAU-TV13. After graduation from college, with a double major in Journalism and Business Administration, he went to work as the Public Affairs Director for WBIZ Radio in Eau Claire. He started Studio One Teleproductions in 1979, producing TV commercials as well as videos for a variety of businesses, industries and organizations. He married Mary Ann DeRosa on August 24, 1996, and with Studio One, he and his wife traveled throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, Florida, Texas and Mexico. In 2003, Rick became an EMT, working part time for St. Croix EMS in Hudson, Wisconsin, Baldwin Ambulance Service, and a short time for Amery Area Ambulance Service. Rick was proud to join the Wisconsin EMS Honor Guard, and to take part in the National EMS Memorial Service in Colorado Springs, CO. Rick is survived by this wife of 21 years, Mary Ann; his sister, Kristine (Jim-wah) Wong, of Longmont, CO; his aunt and uncle, Arlene (Willard "Pete") Vance of Altoona. He is further survived by his cousins, Jennie (Don) Childs, Diane (Dean) Christianson, Bill (Vickie) Vance, Steve Vance, and Ken Larson; father and mother in law, John and Jane DeRosa; brothers-in-law, Anthony J. (Carole-Malia) DeRosa, Micheal (Shelly) DeRosa, and John R. DeRosa; sister-in-law, Joan (Shaun) Kolle; three nieces; three nephews; three great nephews; other relatives and friends, including very special friends, Gene Amann, Warren Petryk, Aaron Rigby, and Heather Harkins. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Thelma, aunts, Jean Larson, Mable Westhauser and Sally Kirby, uncles Ray Westhauser,and Harold Kirby, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Spirit Lutheran Church, 1310 Main St, Eau Claire, with Pastor Jim Ahlquist officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave, Eau Claire, with the Masonic Lodge #112 F&AM and EMS Honor Guard attending. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
