Roger N. Garnett, 89, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep under hospice and the loving care of his family on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at his home. Roger was born in Eau Claire, on February 26, 1929, a son of Carl and Emma (Klopp) Garnett. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1948. On September 19, 1953, Roger married June M. Kelley at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Eau Claire. He worked as an inspector for Uniroyal Tire Company for 43 years. Roger was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #53. Roger cherished time with family and friends. He especially loved the holidays and family time. He also enjoyed doing Thomas Kincade 1000 pieces jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles and watching Packer games. He and June traveled around the country in their RV after retirement, making lifelong friends along the way. His favorite place was the Garden of the Gods in Colorado. Roger is survived by his wife of 65 years, June; three daughters, Janet (Pat) Arnette of Eau Claire, Julie Slicer (Eric Cornelius) of Versailles, IN, and Jane Bowman (Jeff Selden) of Chippewa Falls; two sons, David Garnett of Eau Claire and Dan Garnett (Peg Richgels) of New Hope, MN; 11 grandchildren, David and Scott Garnett, Jason (Jennifer) Arnette and Melissa (Nick Anderson) Arnette, Kelly (Kris) Miller, Kyle (Measha Vieth) Arnette, Kari Garnett, Michael, Jessica, and Jeremy Slicer and Morgan Bowman; 11 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Tessa, Gianna, Cianna, Weston, Addison, Grayson, Reese, Sullivan, Deegan, and Scarlett; and one sister, Beverly Boettcher of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and William “Penn” Garnett; three sisters, Frances Reed, Winifred Winrich and Elaine Wickland. Visitation will be from 4 to 6pm, on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am, on Monday, November 5, 2018, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe St. in Eau Claire with Father James Kurzynski officiating. Entombment will be at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in Eau Claire. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 53.
