Thomas James Litscher

Thomas James Litscher, age 31, of Valparaiso, IN, formally of Eau Claire, WI passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2018. Tom was born on September 26, 1987 to Jim and Kathy Litscher. He graduated from Memorial High School in Eau Claire, WI with the class of 2006. He participated in tennis, basketball and band. In tennis Tom excelled, becoming a nationally ranked player. He went on to Valparaiso University in Indiana where he graduated with a B.A. in Psychology. He played four years of tennis (co-captain for two) under coach Jim Daugherty. During college he worked summers at the WI Lion’s Camp teaching tennis to deaf or hearing-impaired children. After graduation Tom worked as assistant coach for the Valpo Tennis Team’s. Tennis was a big part of Tom’s life and he also previously worked at the Eau Claire YMCA Tennis Center and was certified with the Professional Tennis Registry. He was inducted into the Eau Claire Memorial Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016. Most recently, Tom worked at “Tommy B’s in Aberdeen, IN. Tom was loved by everyone. He was a very social, charismatic, kind-hearted and playful soul. He made us laugh and touched many lives. He loved his family, music, singing and karaoke, the Packers, reading, nature and being outdoors, frisbee golf and of course tennis. An encounter with Tom’s larger than life personality would often leave you smiling and feeling better about yourself. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. Tom is survived by his parents, Jim and Kathy Litscher; brothers, Tim (Kat); Tyler; sister, Traci Balts (Kyle); nephew, Aidan; and nieces, Nora and Ettalyn; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by all four grandparents; uncle, Dale; and aunt, Sherry. The family would like to thank Monessa (Mo), Carl, Barb and Dennis and the entire staff at Tommy B’s Restaurant. Also, Mark Thiros and coach Jim Daugherty who he greatly admired. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire. A short prayer service will be at 4:00 p.m. with Father Brian Jazdzewski officiating. Visitation to follow from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Inurnment will be held in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the John and Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center on 1260 Menomonie St, Eau Claire, WI 54703 or the WI Lion’s Camp at 3834 County Rd A, Rosholt WI, 54773.
