Obituary

Adam “Jason” Smith, age 51, born March 29, 1975, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, died on June 30, 2026 at Luther Mayo Hospital, in Eau Claire.

Jason attended Putnam Heights, Robbins Elementary, South Middle school, and Memorial High School. He attended UWEC for his college years, majoring in computer science and specializing in IT security. After receiving his degree, he worked for USBank for several years, subsequently working for Wipfli and Coal-fire.

As Jason grew older, his interest in music blossomed and he enjoyed singing at various venues around Eau Claire. His hobbies included coin collecting, traveling, and vintage cars. He was a proud member of MENSA.

In 2006, Jason married Karen Passow, and they spent 20 years together before divorcing. They remained close friends until his death.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Edwin L. Smith, and is survived by his mother, Beverly Nichols Smith; his brother, Kent Smith and his wife, Valerie Wold Smith; nephew, Andrew Smith; niece, Arianna Smith Sorenson; aunts, Hayden Nichols Mallon; Deborah Nichols; uncle R. Wesley Nichols, and cousins, Alyson Parks Benton; Nicole Parks; Alex Parks (deceased); Eliza Coady Perez; Tyler Coady; Amelia Coady, and John Wesley Nichols.

There will be a private graveside service for family. Memorials and gifts should be made to the Baker-Smith Musicology scholarship and the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire or the Eau Claire County Humane Association. 

Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home in Eau Claire is assisting the family.
