ADRIAN E. SCHUTE, 89, of 1504 Frederic St., died Saturday, July 5, 1997 at WovenHearts, Eau Claire,WI. He was born February 7, 1908 to Ernest and Elizabeth (Breyer) Schute in Waterloo, WI. Adrian and his parents moved to Chippewa Falls when he was seven years old where he attended grade school and high school graduating in 1925. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison graduating in 1931 with an accounting major and a music minor. He was an accomplished pianist and organist.\r\nHe married Grace Papenfus September 30, 1933 in Wausau, WI, they celebrated 49 years of marriage before her death in 1982.\r\nAdrian was a certified public accountant and worked as a field auditor for the Wisconsin Department of Taxation which later became the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, he eventually became chief field auditor, retiring in 1973.\r\nAdrian was a great lover and supporter of the arts and rarely missed an opportunity to attend a play or concert, he was a member of the Eau Claire Male Chorus for many years and served a term as its president; he was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ for 51 years; he was also a proud member of the "Old Goats" where he and his dear friends shared numerous "in depth" discussions; he was a life member of the Uof W Memorial Union and was proud to be a Badger. Adrian was a man of integrity. He was very generous and was a benfactor to numerous people and organizations, a stickler for detail and had a great need to be informed on practically every subject. Adrian adored his family and above all was a true gentleman.\r\nSurvivors include his daughter Carol (James) Benning of Eau Claire; grandchildren, James II (Sarah) Benning, Duluth,MN, Geoffrey (Jill) Benning, and Mary Grace Benning of Eau Claire; a great-grandson, Joseph McCoy Benning,of Duluth,MN.\r\nMemorials may be directed to the First Congregational United Church of Christ or the Uof W-Madison Foundation.\r\n
