Alex R. "Al" Menard, age 28, of Eau Claire, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at home. Al was born on June 5, 1990, to David and Bonnie (Falch) Menard. He graduated from Regis High School with the Class of 2008. He then attended University of Minnesota – Duluth where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in biology with minors in chemistry and psychology. Al was a member of Boy Scout Troop 37 and earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He also had a black belt in karate. Al enjoyed spending time with his brother, Nathan, and sister-in-law, Rachel. He was looking forward to being an uncle to their little one on the way. Al loved playing football which he did from grade 5 all the way through high school, ending his career at the Aloha Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii. Al was a die-hard Packer fan, he predicted they would make it to Super Bowl LIII in 2019. He loved fishing, music (he had an amazing voice), and his dogs. Al is survived by his parents, David and Bonnie Menard of Eau Claire; brother, Nathan (Rachel) of Dubai, UAE; future niece; "adopted" parents, Julie and Rick Kramer; "adopted" siblings, Alisha Dickey and Scott Plomedahl; best friend, Nick Gove; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his dog, Clay Matthews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Estella and Earl Falch and John and Rosemary Menard; and his dog, Moose. Memorial donations in Al's name may be directed to Bob's House for Dogs, P.O. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St, Eau Claire, with Fr. John Schultz presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave, Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Private family burial will take place at a later date in McCombs Cemetery, Town of Wheaton, Chippewa County.
