Alfred "Budd" M. Weichert, 87, of Eau Claire died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Dove Healthcare. He was born to Robert and Marie (McKeenan) Weichert on November 10, 1917 in Luck, Wisconsin. \r\nBudd served in Squadron A-9 of the 3502nd Army Air Force from May, 1944, until his honorable discharge as Sergeant in June, 1946.\r\nAlfred married Florence M. Toy on December 29, 1949, in Eau Claire.\r\nBudd was a truck driver for Chippewa Motor Freight for over 25 years until his retirement in 1980. \r\nBudd loved the outdoors, camping and fishing in Coon Forks with his children and grandchildren when they were young, and feeding the chipmunks, squirrels and birds. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, playing cards, and puzzles. He also enjoyed working the bingo games and chicken dinners at the American Legion.\r\nHe was a member of the American Legion Post #53 for over 50 years, where he was post adjutant for over twenty years as well as past commander.\r\nBudd is survived by his wife of 55 years, Florence; three sons, Michael (Bonnie) of Eau Claire, Robert of Eau Claire, and Richard of Tucson, AZ; six daughters, Deborah Johnson (Jim Hesselgrave) of Aurora, CO, Margaret "Peggy" Flaskrud of Eau Claire, Nancy Taylor (David Buchholz) of Eau Claire, Pamela Weichert (Terry Mann) of Eau Claire, Amy Jones of Eau Claire, and Barbara Harrison of Flagstaff, AZ; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Weichert of Bradenton, FL; one sister, Phyllis Weichert of Portland, OR; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Julie; one great grandson, Matthew Johnson; four brothers, Carlton, Robert, Paul "Mac", and William; three sisters, Margaret, Helen and Gertrude; and one son-in-law, Jerry Flaskrud.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2005, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church with Father John A. Schultz officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military rites. Family and friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at church. American Legion Post #53 will conduct a military veteran's service at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
