Obituary

Alfred W. Scheidegger, 84, of Eau Claire died unexpectedly Friday, July 22, 2005, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Alfred was born February 24, 1921, in Winona, Minnesota, the son of Alvin and Freida (Knecht) Scheidegger.\r\nAlfred served in the U.S. Army during World War II, until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was stationed in California, the South Pacific, and later in Japan. His unit was one of the first to enter Japan.\r\nAlfred married Margaret "Fritzie" Fernholz on May 25, 1946, in Arcadia, WI at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. \r\nAlfred worked as a salesman for the Ed Phillips&Sons Liquor Company from 1946 until his retirement in 1983.\r\nAlfred is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Mary Kay (John) Kopf and Sally Martenson, both of Eau Claire; grandson, Alex Martenson; step-grandson, Ryan Kopf ; two brothers, Emmons (Pat) of Redwood City, CA, and Gerald (Judy) of Fountain City, WI; and a sister, Jean Abts, of Fountain City, WI; and nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Norman (Anita) Scheidegger.\r\nA private family celebration of life will be held Monday, July 25, 2005, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services with Father Edmund Klimek officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. \r\n
