Obituary

Alice R. Anderson, 72, of Altoona and formerly of Eau Claire, died Sunday, July 30, 2006, at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie.\r\nAlice was born September 30, 1933, in Trempealeau County, the daughter of Clifford and Laura (Kolden) Anderson.\r\nShe graduated from Whitehall High School and later Eau Claire Teachers College. Alice taught elementary school in Wausau, St. Cloud, MN, Austin, MN, and completed her teaching career in Eau Claire at Longfellow Elementary School.\r\nAfter her retirement from teaching, Alice worked as the director of the First Lutheran Church Sunday School Program. She was a long time member of the Senior Choir and Bell Choir. She also gave piano lessons and enjoyed crafts, especially her Norwegian Hardanger.\r\nAlice was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.\r\nShe is survived by her sister, Sylvia Jaenecke of Fall Creek; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Anderson of Minneapolis and Carol Anderson of Eau Claire; two nephews, Clarke (Sandy) Christopherson of Garrison, MN, and David (Jodi) Anderson of Royalton, MN; four nieces, Irma Jean (David) Maves of Menomonie, Emily Nehring of Colgate, WI, Diane Anderson of Minneapolis, and Kari (Darrell) Osmek of Elk River, MN; several great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Layton and Merrill Anderson; and a sister, Elaine Christopherson.\r\nThe family wishes to thank the staff at Grace Edgewood in Altoona and the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie for the loving care extended to Alice.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2006, at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with the Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Whitehall, WI. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at Church.\r\n
