Obituary

ALICE M. GESSNER, 74, 4313 Gessner Road, died Tuesday, October 3, 2000, at her home. She was born on November 26, 1925 in Eau Claire, to Oscar and Caroline (Dahl) Paulson. Alice married Alen G. Gessner in Reno, Nevada on October 16, 1941.\r\nShe worked over 25 years at K-Mart until her retirement in 1991.\r\nAlice was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and the Eau Claire Fire Fighters Women's Auxiliary. For many years she had enjoyed traveling and joining her friends to play bingo.\r\nSurvivors include three sons, Allen (Bernice) and David (Christine) both of Eau Claire, and Steven (Rhonda) of Pleasant Valley, NY; grandson, Mark Gessner of Eau Claire; four granddaughters, Lori Mai (James), Christine Gessner-Joyce (Larry) and Kathryn Gessner all of Eau Claire, and Kristyn Gessner of Pleasant Valley, NY; three great-granddaughters, Nicole and Erica Mai, and Amanda Gessner; a brother, Leonard Paulson of Mondovi; two sisters, Margaret Barney of Mondovi and Janet (Daniel) Judkins of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nAlice was preceded in death by her husband, Alen in 1981; infant son, James; five brothers, Ralph, Orville, George, Chester and John Paulson; two sisters, Beverly Souders and Evelyn Lawrence; a half brother, Peter Paulson and half sister, Mary Wagner.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor Paul D.L. Oppedahl officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to the Inner Faith Hospitality Network.
