ALMEDA C. JOHNSON, 85, of 916 James St., died Sunday, January 2, 2000 at Luther Hospital. She was born March 15, 1914 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Almeda moved with her family to Cumberland, where she graduated from Cumberland High School in 1931. She worked for Wisconsin Northern Transportation Company in Rice Lake.\r\nThey moved to Eau Claire, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Kelly Furniture. Later, she accepted a secretary position at American National Bank, where she worked for 32 years before retirement.\r\nAlmeda married George A. Johnson at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd on February 14, 1964.\r\nShe was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, was financial secretary for the church for many years, and was active in various women's groups.\r\nAt the age of 83, Almeda learned computer skills so she could e-mail her grandchildren, friends and other relatives. Her family always enjoyed her famous fruit salad that she made for family gatherings.\r\nShe is survived by her husband, George; son, James (Gloria) Bloom of Eau Claire; two stepdaughters, Sonja (Bob) Wittwer and Bonnie (Bill) Kuehn, both of Eau Claire; stepson, Roger (Kay) Johnson of Opilika, AL; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; sister, Annice Jenson of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, a step grandson, Michael Wittwer;and her brother-in-law, Oscar Jenson.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
