Aloys "Al" F. Michels, 88, of Eau Claire, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012, to join his sons, James and Mark, in heaven. Al was born on September 5, 1923, to Cecelia (Scheuermann) and Albert Michels, the youngest of their six children. He attended St. Patrick's High School and graduated with the Class of 1947. He married Gloria Marten, and to that union two children, James and Susan, were born. Al later married Joan Jacobson and they were also blessed with four children, Joan, Patti, Laurie and Mark. Al worked for a number of years in the theatre, as manager for Minnesota Amusement and Twentieth Century Fox in Hollywood, CA. His love for the four seasons brought him back to Wisconsin, where he then spent the next 38 and a half years working for Uniroyal, retiring in 1986. Al is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan; four daughters, Susan Michels of Idaho, Joan (Dave) Holmberg of Elk Mound, WI, Patti ( Jim) Gustafson of St. Paul, MN, Laurie (Peter) Hagen of Eau Claire; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ione Michels; other family relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, James and Mark Michels; siblings, Loretta, Lucy, Clara, Leonard and Henry. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the St. Joseph's Hospice team members, Juanita, Karen, Beth, Heather and Karen, who gave him such wonderful care; his nurse Cindy, and his social worker Kelly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012, at St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church, S10444 Hwy 53 in Fall Creek with Father James Kurzynski and Monsignor Edmund Klimek officiating. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery in the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in Eau Claire, WI. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2012, with a Public Prayer Vigil at 6:00 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, WI, and one hour prior to the mass at church.
