Alvina Jeanette Nelson, 98, of Eau Claire, entered the kingdom of Heaven on April 11, 2016, surrounded by her family and under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice at Oakwood Villa in Altoona. Alvina, the daughter of Martin and Tilda (Quall) Teigen, was born on June 21, 1917 in Eau Claire County, baptized and confirmed at Drammen Lutheran Church. Alvina married Alfred J. Nelson on March 14, 1936 in Eau Claire, WI. They raised their family south of Eau Claire and attended Our Savior Lutheran Church. Alvina loved her family, friends, and her ladies church group. She sewed quilts for Lutheran World relief for the needy. Alvina was the best mom, grandmother, great grand-mother, and great-great grandmother. She loved sharing her baking, quilting, crocheting, crafting, and sewing with family and friends. She had the largest doll collection and loved to play scrabble. Alvina is survived by her two sons, Gerald (Gloria) Nelson, of Milton, WI, LaVern (Karen) Nelson of Bushnell, FL; two sisters, Pearline Garnett and Loretta Gibson, of Eau Claire, WI; eleven grandchildren, Cindy (Steve) Wright, of Milton, WI, David (Denise) Nelson, of Milton, WI, Mike Nelson, of Corona, CA, Cheryl (Steve) Berg, of Augusta, WI, Julie (Bill) Trescher, of Augusta, WI, Linda Lee, of Augusta, WI, Laurie (Tim) Swissdorf, of Bloomer, WI, David (Nancy) Rossow, of New Auburn, WI, Mark (Leslie) Rossow, of Eau Claire, WI, Scott Nelson, of Bushnell, FL, Kathy (Dan) Raymond, of Janesville, WI; twenty-nine great-grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren; many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her daughter, Beverly Anne Rossow; grandson, Dale Nelson; great grandson, Andrew Nelson; and two brothers, Orville Teigen and Gaylen Teigen. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 15 at 12 p.m. at Spirit Lutheran Church, 1310 Main St. in Eau Claire with Pastor Amy Odgren and Roger Benrud officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Brunswick Cemetery, Town of Brunswick.
