Anna M. Merrick, 99, of Eau Claire died Monday, December 27, 2004, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home. She was born the oldest of five children on June 30, 1905, in Eau Claire to Peder and Sophie (Rosness) Yndestad. She attended Eau Claire Schools and graduated with the class of 1925. Anna married Alton C. Merrick on December 20, 1927, in St. Paul, Minnesota at Faith Lutheran Church.\r\nAnna was a life long member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and was part of one of the charter families of the church. She was an extremely devout woman, and was very active in various activities at Our Savior's, particularly with her circle. Anna was renowned for her delicious Sandbakkles, which she made for everyone each Christmas.\r\nAnna loved music, and never missed an opportunity to see her grandchildren perform in their various concerts and plays as they grew up. She loved to spend time with her great-grandchildren as well, singing songs with them, listening to them perform, or just cuddling with them. As she became frailer, Anna was content to just sit and enjoy everyone's company.\r\nSurvivors include two daughters, Shirley Wicklund of Howard Lake, MN and Norma (Ralph) Scott of Eau Claire; daughter-in-law, Alvera Merrick of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Stuart (Linda) Wicklund of Greenfield, MN, Susan (James) Squiers of Savage, MN, Nancy (John) Mickelson, Patricia McCown, both of Eau Claire, John (Monica) Merrick of West Allis, Cheryl (Ronald) Cramer, and Jane (John) Snyder, both of Eau Claire; seven great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three nephews, Duane LaPage, Roger LaPage, and Richard Gaul; and several cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alton, in 1980; her son, Donald; son-in-law, Jack Wicklund; grandson-in-law, Mark McCown; two brothers, Donald and Harold Yndestad; and two sisters, Dorothy Klohs and Norma Gaul.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January, 8, 2005, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.\r\nAnna's family requests memorials be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1310 Main St., Eau Claire, WI 54701.
