IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ardis Mae
(Julson) Rodel
August 9, 1930 – September 26, 2024
Ardis Mae Rodel, age 94, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at HeatherWood Assisted Living in Eau Claire WI. Ardis was born on August 9, 1930 in the Town of Hale, Wisconsin to Myrtle and John Julson. After moving to Eau Claire, she met the love of her life James (Jim) Rodel. They were married at Sacred Heart Church, Eau Claire, WI on October 1st, 1949 and would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this year. Ardis is survived by her husband Jim and their four children, Diana Burton (Jim), Thomas Rodel (Julie), Jean Fisher (John) and Brenda Slager (Rick), as well as her five grandchildren, Andrew Fisher (Angela), Katie Killebrew (Shawn), Lindsay Punzenberger (Jake), Daniel Ryder (Erin), Billy Bowers, ten great-grandchildren and brother John Julson. Ardis was preceded in death by her parents John and Myrtle Julson, her sisters Gladys Mathison, Eleanor Jaskowski, Florence Pippenger and Jane Livingston, as well as her brothers Al, Glen, Leonard, Sidney, Milland and daughter in law Debbie (Schuppe) Rodel. Ardis was first and foremost a homemaker, where her number one priority was caring for her husband and children. Once her children were in school, she selflessly took a part time position at AT&T as a telephone operator, retiring after 32 years of service. Additionally, Ardis joyfully volunteered at St James the Greater Church and School, where she and Jim were parishioners for 65 years. She also was an active member and volunteer in the AT&T Pioneers Ardis was known and loved for her exceptional culinary skills which she joyfully shared with her family, friends and coworkers. She took great pride in her thoughtful preparations for holiday dinners, seasonal celebrations, summer backyard cookouts and special baking for her children and grandchildren. In addition, she enjoyed her daily "brisk" walks, golfing, playing cards, gardening, daily crossword puzzles and periodic bus trips to Turtle Lake with her sisters to play the slots. She deeply loved and cherished her grandchildren and always made a special effort to be a constant and positive influence in their lives. In retirement Ardis and Jim enjoyed their time traveling together throughout the United States, as well as to Australia and New Zealand. Their most memorable travels were taking their children and grandchildren to Golden Clouds, Jamaica over Thanksgiving holidays, escaping the Wisconsin winters in Lake Havasu, AZ and taking each grandchild on a special trip of their choice on their tenth birthday. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at HeatherWood Assisted Living, St. Croix Hospice and Home Companions. Your support, care and love made her days brighter. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services. Online condolences may be left for Ardis' family at www.lenmarkfh.com.
